IPL – “Cricketainment” Continues

Cricket one of the festivals in India, celebrated in each & every form either it is test, one-day or T20. The interest created by the World Cup success will spill over to the IPL as fans will throng to the stadium to see their heroes. The demand for the tickets has not been satiated and for those who missed the live World Cup action, the IPL will be the next best option.

There are some concerns too. Uppermost on the mind is whether absence of Lalit Modi affects the glory of this game or not?

Experts believe the 2011 Indian premier League will find it tough to match the success of the previous seasons. It is first edition post-Lalit Modi, & not only the franchise, the Indian Board is also feeling the anxiety.

IPL has a big impact on Indian Cricket but it also has a bit on someone like Lalit Modi, commissioner of IPL since its inception. Lali Kumar Modi, suspended IPL commissioner’s tweet seeking to know who the real owner of Kochi team, alleged to be linked to then minister Shashi Tharoor. Everyone wants to be millionaire overnight, thanks to IPL to make it happen.

With the end of Lalit Modi era, the owner’s right to enter the player’s area has also been restricted. The Indian Premier League governing council headed by Chirayu Amin has decided to change some rules.

The ideology of the men in power now doesn’t match the flamboyant style of Modi.

There are some changes in the IPL after Lalit Modi’s suspension.

  • Owners will not be allowed to sit in player’s dugout.
  • No backdrop of payments to players.
  • No IPL hosted parties.
  • Bowlers are allowed to warm up on the sidelines with the help of support staff during the match.

Aside from these changes rest all has been same. Absence of Lalit Modi does not drop the momentum that has been created but allows the officials to bring some new changes.

“The show must go on. IPL is a world class tournament. It’s for the fans globally. Each game will be riveting” – Lalit Kumar Modi

So, as Lalit Modi said the show must go on! IPL has started its new leaves to born after having seeded by lalit Modi.
